Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Michigan
Damage caused by falling tree
An ice storm occurred. Built up ice caused my tree to fall on my neighbors shed/barn. My insurance company states that I have no liability and the neighbor must file a claim with their own insurance company. What is my liability? Can I be successfully sued for damages?

I wouldn't worry about it. Tel your neighbor to file a claim with his insurer. They will pay him. If the insurer feels there is any liability, then the neighbor's insurer will bring the claim against you. At that point, your insurance will defend. Chances are, the neighbor's insurance will pay and that will be the end of it. Bill Stern
