Legal Question in Immigration Law in Michigan
Fiance' Visa Needed?
I am a U.S. citizen, my fiance lives in England. In the next year, I will be moving THERE with my kids. My fiance will come here for another visit to help with the moving finalization. My family cannot afford to fly abroad. We would like to have a civil ceremony (during his visit) in the U.S. so my family can see me marry. He would not be moving or working here and would leave right after to prepare for my kids and my arrival to England. He meets all local marriage criteria. Do we have to have a K-1 fiance visa, since I will be moving there? Or can we marry with a local marriage license while he is here with just his passport?
Thank for you help,

Re: Fiance' Visa Needed?
If you are not planning on filing any paperwork for him to immigrate to the US then when you get married should not make a difference. However, if you do plan to file for his green card then it is best you consult with an attorney since it will change your approach.
