Legal Question in Immigration Law in Michigan

I have a friend in India I want to bring here to live. He would stay at my house, I have an extra bedroom and bathroom. I would provide room and board. I wondered about the best way to get him here. He is a Christian Missionary, he is 36 years old. He has become family to me and I would like to adopt him if possible so he is legally part of my family.

He can come on a visitor's visa and stay up to 6 months (if a visa is approved). If a church invites him, he might be able to come on a religious worker visa.

However close he is to you, you can't bring him to USA for permanent residency if you are not related and don't plan to marry him. If he is a 36-year old adult, adoption will not help (as it will not help him to immigrate to USA).

He might want to look into a work visa or visa for a religious worker options.
