Legal Question in Immigration Law in Michigan
Hello my name is Maggy I am currently a resident and will be able to get my citizenship in october of this year. My mother has been living in the united states for 17 years and my father has been living here for 24 years, they have no criminal records, My question is; if i have to wait until i become a citizen in order to fix their legal status? also, how long would the process be in order for them to get their residence?

Hello:
That will depend on how they entered the U.S. Please let me know.
Hi Maggy: You will have to wait until you become a U.S. citizen before you can petition for them. Whether they can get their green cards in the U.S. or must travel abroad will depend on several things including how they entered and any other prior petitions that might have been filed on their behalf. If they are able to get their green cards in the U.S., in Michigan it will be three months after you file their petition for their green cards to be adjudicated.
