Legal Question in Insurance Law in Michigan
I never recieved COBRA
Greetings:
I voluntarily quit my position with Qualex (a Kodak company) last September. I never recieved any information on COBRA benefits continuation. I was employed by Qualex for 5 years. I have come to find out that my medical benefits could of continued at my expense under COBRA. I was never informed after my seperation with Qualex. What kind of recourse do I have?
Thanks

Re: I never recieved COBRA
As I recall, you have 18 months within which to sign up for COBRA, and I believe they'll backdate coverage for about 3 months. If you have no damages (money expended or other injury), then I don't see that there would be any cause of action. Just contact your past employer and ask them about it. Be prepared to pay a hefty premium through COBRA...you may want to check out just buying health insurance through an agent you find in the yellow pages.
Good luck!
