Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Michigan

trademark issue for non-profit club.

If I am starting a Non-Profit Club of paddlesport enthusiasts that would help with cleaning up the Flint River in Michigan, and I named the group ''The Buick City Boaters'' would I run into Trademark legal issues with GM over using the Buick Name?? Is there a way to get permission from GM to use the name or at least check with them to see if I can?

The easiest way to do this is to write to the general counsel at GM and he will have one of his subordinate attorneys prepare an answer to you. They are located in downtown Detroit at the Renaissance Center.
