Legal Question in Personal Injury in Michigan

I was in a car accident on 9/14. I was approved comp time for a doctors appointment from work. On my way back, to drop my daughter off and return someone ran off the wrong side of the road and hit us head on. I was in the hospital a couple of days and have not been able to return because of pain in my neck, head, back, knee and ankle. I am a mess. Employer says my FMLA has been exhausted and my only option is to return to work or be terminated. What should I do? Also, was I considered working while injured or off job? Thank you.
