Legal Question in Personal Injury in Michigan

My father (a drug adict) was partying with a women who has a history of drug abuse, suicide atemps, and overdoses. he admitted to police that he gave her 2 vicoden and 1 soma. she died overnigt in her home with only him there.the police were holding him pending autopsey, now has relised him but say when toxocology comes back thery will be seaking involentary mansloter for his role in drug use leading to her death. can they charge him with this and what sentence may he face.
