Legal Question in Personal Injury in Michigan
I suffered a serious knee injury as a result of a driver who flew past my husband and I as we were walking along on horseback on the grass edging our dirt road. The car did not slow down or move over and went by us fast enough to spew gravel from his tires which struck my horse and spooked him. The horse stumbled into a large ditch and I ended up up-side down in the ditch with my leg pinned under me. I suffered torn meniscuses and a torn ACL and must now undergo artheroscopic surgery to repair everything. There is also the possibility that this injury may cost me my job (hopefully not!). We filed a police report with the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department. The driver is a neighbor who is well known for not respecting pedestrians. Do i have any legal recourse to help pay for the medical bills and possibly for lost wages?
