Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

My brother was engaged but it was called off and she sold the ring then claimed bankruptsy. Can he claim it on his insurance as stolen property? He had a special valuable personal property policy on the ring but the insurance company has told him that because the ring was a gift, he cannot claim it's loss by the woman who sold it. Is there any Michigan law that could help him with his claim?

Its not stolen property and any claim on insurance is fraud and he will be prosecuted. Move on. www.kliszlaw.com Tim Klisz

He gave it as a gift and therefore it is not stolen. If he tries to claim it as stolen and the insurance company pays out on it, he would be prosecuted for fraud and/or sued by the insurance company for fraud, as well.
