Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

Disclosure Document

Hi, I purchased a home on April 1 and on April 4 my basement flooded. The problem was the result of broken pipes (several) in my yard. The repairs (2) totaling 5100.00 were unexpected because the previous owner claimed no plumbing problems were present. My question is can I sue the previous owner for the damages? He did state no problems on the Disclosure Document and the Plumbers have told me it would be hard to believe he didn't have any with the repairs that were needed. Thanks

Re: Disclosure Document

You will have to prove the seller knew or should have known of this problem. If the pipes broke, then it is likely he had a history of plumbing problems, which he did not disclose. You can sue the previous owner for damages. If you would like my assistance in doing so, please contact me at [email protected] / www.lawarefs.com.
