Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan
I am currently in a situation in which my name and my exs name is on the house deed. We were never married and have no kids or any other binding issues. I no longer am living at that residence and have not been for the last 9 months but yet I have been paying her the house payment since it is my name as Primary lender on the paperwork. What can I do to get out of this situation? What would happen if I just stopped paying and let it foreclose, is there a way she can come after me with a lawyer or legal rep., and if so would would be the grounds for that? what would be the best way to dissolve this problem so we can both move on? Thank you

More than her coming after you, the bank will be coming after you. If you walk away, the bank can come after you for the shortfall after they auction the property. Be very careful here and visit with a local real estate attorney to find out your rights and pitfalls. www.kliszlaw.com Tim Klisz
