Legal Question in Traffic Law in Michigan
Failed to yield
I want to look up the definition of ''fail to yield'' so I can better determine if I violated this traffic violation. I was waiting to make a left turn at a red light facing 2 lanes of on coming traffic. The light turned green, the on coming traffic did not move so after a few seconds (?), I made my turn and was given a ticket.
Can someone tell me where I can find the specific law pertaining to ''Failed to yield''? Is there a specific length of time you must wait before going ahead with completing your turn? Or do you wait til the light turns red and then proceed?

Oncoming traffic always has the right of way, so if you get hit by oncoming traffic, you have failed to yield.
