Legal Question in Traffic Law in Michigan
revised police report
I was in a minor accident in the fall. The initial police report showed neither party at fault. No tickets were issued. Now, 5 months later the other party filed for $500 mini-tort. My insurance refused to pay it. So, the other party got a revised police report showing me at fault. Is it standard practice for police to revise the police reports, especially so long after the accident? Their insurance agent said that if my insurance doesn't pay the $500, they will sue me in small claims court for the full amount to fix their vehicle. I feel a bit like I'm being scammed. Any advice?

Re: revised police report
police can change reports, but more importantly, your auto insurer owes you a duty to defend and pay the minitort claim. if you are insured, that is your maximum exposure anyway, 500$. good luck, Tim Klisz
