Adding a person onto the deed to my house

If I add my partner onto the deed to my house, if we break up, would she be entitled to half the house. I've lived in the house 21 yrs. She has been there for 5 yrs.

Absolutely, she would be so entitled. Consider showing her/him your commitment in other ways.

Joint tenancy is one of the worst ways to hold title, unless you are husband and wife. You are opening a can of worms, there are many things to consider before doing so.
