my birth father passed away and even though i am not listed in his will, could I be entitled to a portion of his estate, even though I was adopted?

Not likely. Once adopted by someone else, your inheritance rights are cut off. He needed to leave you in his will to accomplish this. Kliszlaw.com. Tim Klisz
