Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan
My ex-husband was in a car accident a few years ago and now needs a legal guardian to alocate his finances (money from the car insurance company) and to find an assisted living location for 24 hour care. He has always been quite the con man and now he is telling our son (23 years old) that a lot of money would be involved if our son would take on the responsibilty of being his legal gaurdian. Would my son be responsible for any debt that my ex-husband has or may in the future aquire. What exactly does becoming a legal gaurdian mean, what are the responsibilities?

your son will not be responsible for the debts of his father but he must also be strong because he must not allow his father use this disablility to con others. if there is a debt his father owes, he must pay the debt from his father's money and not give his father money that he know that he will squander. it is alot of responsiblity. I would not ask my son to deal with that kind of respnosibility if ther was any one else such as a brother, father, friend.
