Power of attorney after death

hello...im writting on behalf of some friends of mine who do not computer access...the situation is my friends mom died...she was power of attorney she has been receiving her mom's pension checks and cashing them since april...is she a fraud? if so what should she do? or what it the legalities of this situation? please let me know thanks

Cashing the pension or social security checks of a deceased person is a big NO NO. I certainly hope your friend has not done that. If he/she has, they should immediately seek legal counsel, they may be civilly and/ or criminally liable. For more info, please contact my office at (248)851-3171.
