unclaimed properties

My mother was the only heir to her

step fahthers estate, both have died

and I have found unclaimed properties

belonging to my granfather in Michigan.

Should my family persue this claim?

The utility of making such a claim depends on the value of the property involved. You can contact the probate court in the county in which your grandfather died and inquire about opening / reopening your grandfather's estate and appointing a personal representative.
