Denied Unemployment due to misconduct for insufficient medical documentation

Facts: was on medical leave for 6 months, told 2 days before official return date was Terminated due to insufficient medical information. Obtain additional documentation(was also deemed insufficient and was told terminated)did not return to work as schedule. Employer sent termination letter 2 weeks later. Denied unemployment due to misconduct because medical information insufficient and did not return to work. How can this be legal? What can I legally do? I am appealing to board of review for unemployment.
