Legal Question in Workers Comp in Michigan

Head Injury Workers Compensation Case

Hello! I live in Michigan and I was on the job posing for a composite group photo within our department that was at the request of the head department manager; to get to the point of the short summary; A metal tri-pod pole fell and hit me in the head and shoulder; I suffered a head concussion and head contusion and my left shoulder was bruised up! and I continue to have several headaches non-stop! It has now been a year and a half and I'm still suffering from pain and depression; I was terminated a week later after the injury. My treating physician has diagnosed it as a Closed Head Injury. However to say the least I strongly feel that I was wrongfully discharged due to the injury. My former attorney had worked diligently on handling my case up until this past December he was killed in an auto accident and I feel like no one is on my side. I have retained a new attorney a few months ago; However I don't feel he has the determination or the motivation to continue out this case. He attended a control date this month and the company that I was working for made a settlement offer of only $30, 000. I'm not seeking to become rich; just fairly compensated due to the fact that I have memory loss and other embarrassing complications. HELP!!

Re: Head Injury Workers Compensation Case

If you feel the offer was not sufficient, you always have the option of going to trial. If you had no other employment after the discharge and good, supporting medical evidence, you may win. As you most likely know, Joel Alpert took over Gerald Keller's cases and he is an excellent lawyer. He will head the workers compensation section of the State Bar. Feel free to call with any questions. William S. Stern
