I hope you have a divorce lawyer; you should get his or her advice about this You can get a copy of your husband's bankruptcy papers and review them for accuracy. Generally, a person who files bankruptcy can protect quite a few assets in a bankruptcy -- at least $11,200 worth of value, plus $3225 of value in a car, plus $9,000 of household goods -- so it is unlikely that you or he will "lose everything" in a bankruptcy.
