Legal Question in Business Law in Minnesota
contract law
Me and roughly 20 other people auditioned and were given parts in A persons small theater company. We were told we would be making 15$ an hour and signed not one, contract, but two on the matter. The owner/director took these first contracts, signed them and told us he would be making us copies shortly. Well a month of rehersals went by, all with us clocking our hours. We trusted our director/boss when he told us he needed to revise the contracts. Finally he got around to Issueing our second contracts(we were under contract which indecated our wage and dates of payment). Once again, signed and signed.
Then out of the blue, he canclled the production, W/o ever giving us copies of our contracts. We had all invested a month+ of hard work. It has now been 2 months since this sudden termination, and no pay.
To make a long story short,
Is it illegal to destroy a binding contract?
What would you reccoment to us?
thanks.

Re: contract law
Make a wage demand, referencing the written contract and MN law concerning the 14 day penalty for unpaid wages following demand. A Joint Letter from all would carry most weight.
