Mechanic Lien on House

I recieved a Notice of Lien against my home for a $1850 lumber bill that was paid at the time of purchase. The owner of the lumber yard acknowledges that the bill is paid in full but says a glitch in his billing dept. has put this in ''auto mode''.

He says he will try and stop this proceeding but it will take 30-60 days to clear.

How will this affect my credit rating and good standing?

This is called "slander of title" and even if done "unintentionally" you may have a clear case for damages due to negligence and potentially punitive damages.

(even if the lien was unintentional, the mechanism for establishing it was clearly intended, thus giving rise to an action for damages).
