Are there any legal ramifications for a user that posts material that could be viewed as slanderous on a website that does ratings?

The answer would depend on whether the information was, in fact, libelous and, depending on the nature of the statements, whether any damages were incurred or whether it was defamation per se, requiring no proof of damages.
