Legal Question in Consumer Law in Minnesota

Automobile title

I purchased a 2007 Ford Mustang convertible on July 5th from a dealership in Illinois. The vehicle was paid in full at the time I took delivery. The dealership was to send the title to me in Mankato Minnesota when the checks cleared the bank. They sent the title to me in mid July via DHL delivery. The delivery address on the parcel was all correct except for a mis-spelling of the city, but DHL in their ineptitude mis-delivered the vehicle title to somewhere in Mendota instead of Mankato. It was left on someones door and when DHL tried to follow up on the mis-delivered parcel their driver could not remember where he left it! Now I am trying to get the dealership to provide a duplicate title so that I can liscense the vehicle in my home state of Minnesota and I am not having much success. I have a 2007 Mustang convertible that I have insured, have paid for, but I can't legally drive! Where do I go from here? Can DHL be held responsible for their stupidity? Can I sue them for loss of my use of the vehicle? What legal pressure can be brought to bear on the seller, who have been nice, but have not gotten a duplicate title from the state of Virginia where the vehicle was formerly titled. HELP!!!! What can I do? Thanks, Tim

Re: Automobile title

First; you CAN legally drive it. Go to any MN vehicle services office with ID + proof of payment + other purchase paperwork + you should get a provisional License for vehicle.

2nd- you will NOT be able to sell it w/o title.

I would prepare a Letter to dealer making Demand for reimb. For your. Expenses relating to title + demanding they do trace w/DHL (they have shipping receipt +trackimg #)
