Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota

Escalated arguement with step daughter

I had an issue with step daughter who called the police on me. I didn't hit her but I did grab her arm. I left the house. She called the police. What can really happen to me?

Re: Escalated argument with step daughter

Avoid making admissions on the web or elsewhere. It's difficult to answer this well here, because more facts are needed, and there is much that could happen.

Suffice it to say for now that an intentional, unwanted touching, especially in the context of anger and argument, could be viewed by a prosecutor as a basis for a criminal domestic assault charge, by a court as a basis for an "Order for Protection," as well as other negative possibilities. These could lead to arrest, jail, loss of employment, loss of civil rights to firearms, deportation of non-citizens, etc. Avoid talking to police or anyone but a defense lawyer about this.

Best to consult a Minnesota criminal defense lawyer.
