Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota
Unlawful Entry
I own a farm site in the country that we use the outbuildings for storage. There is a house in close proximity to my property. The other property is going through foreclosure and the mortgage company broke into my bldgs. They forcibly opened door, damaging it, and moved things within my buildings. They left the doors wide open when they left. We have contacted them and they admitted to coming into my buildings. Can we press any charges against them if they refuse to pay for the damages?

Re: Unlawful Entry
Thank you for your question. The individual who entered your property committed a trespass. If they damaged your property they could liable for the cost to repair locks and other damaged items. If you wish to complain about the matter, I would contact your city or county attorney.
