I am applying for a job. 5 years ago I had a DUI conviction. The online job application asks: "Have you ever been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor (omit traffic violations)?" In Minnesota, am I allowed to consider my difficulty that long ago a traffic violation or must I report it on the job application?

I am not sure what you mean by "am I allowed to consider my difficulty that long ago a traffic violation," but it probably does not matter. Five years is not that long ago. You were convicted of a misdemeanor, so you should disclose it.
