If a person were to be charged with small amount in a motor vehicle and confessed could another person in the motor vehicle be charged with the same crime

Yes. Possession may be charged if a person knew the contraband was in the vehicle or the person had constructive possession of the contraband. In most cases, one person is charged unless the occupants make it difficult to determine who was in possession.
