Re: definition of child support

Child support can be used for anything your ex spouse deems necessary. You have the right to tell your children that they should ask their mother for clothes and stuff. You do not have the right to demand that your ex-wife account for the way she has spent the child support.

It is my experience, however, that child support rarely covers all or even most of the costs associated with raising children. It is rare that a non-custodial parent isn't asked to kick in some extra amount to cover clothes, extra-curricular activities, or stuff.

Re: definition of child support

There is no official definition of what child support may be used to buy.

It is generally used for static costs including the residence, utilities and other normal expenses. There is no requirement for an accounting.
