My husband left our apartment and I have filed for a divorce. I have changed the locks on our apartment and want to know what the law is in Minnesota regarding this issue.

Re: Filed for a divorce and changed locks

You can change the locks, but he can break in or have the doors opened by management. So long as there is no court order precluding your spouse from the residence, he is considered a legal occupant and may seek access.

You remedy is to file for divorce and seek a temporary hearing to have tghe cout address the issue of who will occupy the residence.
