Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota
grandparent seeking temporary legal custody
I need immediate custody of grandson. Mother will be in jail & then going to treatment. Dad is also sooking at jail time for some traffic tickets, he doesn't have custody (never married) but does have visition (their own arrangement). For the safety of child-what has to be written/signed by mother granting me at least temporary custody-i will also need to get power of attorney for her. Dad had child in car when pulled over-no license-went to jail. This is an emergency

Re: grandparent seeking temporary legal custody
The best way to handle this is with a stipulation signed by you and the mom (and, if possible, the dad) with terms that suit the specific situation, and terms that mom / both parents agree with. Please feel free to follow up with me by email at [email protected].

Any Power of Attorney or Guardianship would require serving the other parent if tat parent has rights.
