inheritance
I am in the process of a divorce. Is my
spouse entitled to half of an
inheritance,(in my name), from my
parents who recently died. The divorce
has not been completed.

Assets acquired by inheritance are listed in Minnesota statutes as a non-marital asset, meaning they are not usually divided in divorce. Only under rare circumstances will a court invade a non-marital asset as partof a property division.
