Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Minnesota

response to subpoena

I received a subpeona in a civil case commanding that I produce and permit inspeciton and copying of certain documents at a place, date and time specified. I live in NY and the place for inspection is in MN. What is the proceedure I must follow to answer this subpoena. I have relevant documents. Do I send originals? What method of shipment is preferred? Can I expect to get these documents returned to me? Do I need to hire a lawyer to respond to the supoena? thanks

Re: response to subpoena

You have a number of options here. It is hard to tell what is best for your situation. It may be best to hire a lawyer. It sounds like you want to cooperate, which should make it pretty cheap, but other factors that I don't know could definitely change my response.
