Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Minnesota

I want to go into business making video. I take pictures that people have given to me and i put music to it.

What i want to know is how do I go about getting permission to use songs from singers. Like Garth Brookes ect

Any franchise attorney will say you don't contact the artist directly, but the music company that holds the copyright (BMI, etc.) Consult with a good franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
