Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Minnesota

Getting Court Fees back from Landlord

Trying to get my damage deposit back from my past landlord in Rice County. Have gone through small claims court and got a ruling in my favor. Now I'm trying to get him to pay it. I see that each step that I have to do to get the money from him requires a $30-50 fee. How do I get that amount of money added to the total amount he owes me or am I just out that money after the process is over?

Thanks for any help!

Re: Getting Court Fees back from Landlord

Here's an additional idea. Check with your county and city to see if there are any licensing requirements for operations such as the one your former landlord is running. If there are such requirements, see if he has a license and find out how to file a complaint with the licensing authority.

One other thing. If you know where he banks, you can have the sheriff levy on his bank account. Did you pay by check? If so look on the back of one of your checks to see where he banks. You probably have the account number there.

Good luck.

If you file an Affidavit of Additional costs and interest, the Dist.Court Clerk will add on those to the judgment.

Have you done an Order for Disclosure of Assets?
