Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Minnesota

Lease termination

I signed for a one year lease at my apertment complex. Lived for 3 months now and noticed the neighbors smoke in their apartment. All the smoke travels into my windows forcing me to close all my windows. When I leave my window open and come home at night, my whole apartment is filled with smoke. I get sick from cigarette smoke. The landlord says there nothing they can do and basically tell me I have to put up with it. I refuse! I would like to move and already found a different apartment. How can I terminate my lease?

Call the MN Dept of Health. You may have a MN CLean Air ACT COMPLAINT.
