Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Minnesota

Question Regarding Roommate Issues

I current lease an apartment in Shakopee. I have a question regarding my roommate. My roommate has not lived here in over a month and a half, however she has paid rent so far. My question is what rights does she or I have? I'm intending and actively searching for a new roommate, as that the current one has not come back, nor does she give any answer to WHEN she is coming back. Both of us are on the lease, however I would like some one to be HERE, some one that shares the burden of the lease as well as the other bills. I'm intending on getting a new roommate. What kind of notice do I need to give my current roommate that she needs to move, the standard 30 Day written notice, or something different? Thanks

Re: Question Regarding Roommate Issues

I need to see the lease, but generally the LANDLORD will need to release the roommate and approve a new tenant.

It is not your decision to release the other tenant from the lease.Call or e-mail for more assistance. I have been a landlord for 25 years.
