Legal Question in Traffic Law in Minnesota
Is a speeding ticket a ''traffic offense?''
I recieved my first speeding ticket ever in May of 2005 I paid the fine on time and didn't dispute it. I am applying for a correctional position and they are asking for my background and want to know if I ''Have been convicted of one or more misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors, or felonies INCLUDING traffic offenses.'' So technically is a speeding ticket an offense??

A speeding ticket is a traffic offense but it is not a misdemeanor, gross misdemeanor of felony. I suggest you disclose the speeding ticket anyway. Better to do that than to be accused of concealing something. Most of us have had a few speeding tickets. It would be suspect to not have one.
