Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Minnesota

Father

My father left my mother before I was born and only spoke to me once when I was 18. i am now 26 and found out through reading the paper that he has died. No one has contacted me about anything. Do I have any legal rights should they have told me he died, and if he has passed things down to his 2 other children do I have any rights being his 1st born?

Re: Father

You are clearly an heir but your father could have made a Will and excluded you. You will need to contact the probate Court in the County of his residence to see if any probate was began. If no Will exists, you may have some rights. Dennis
