Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Minnesota

my grandmother just died; i was her power of attorney but know that expired upon her death; my brother and I are her only living heirs; she did not have a will; her estate consists of a bank account and a stock.

I need to pay her remaining bills and close out her estate. What is my next step and do I need a lawyer or can I close out the estate on my own?

The procedure you use depends on the value of the estate. A lawyer wouldn't hurt no matter what it procedure you need to use to wrap up her affairs.

I am sorry to hear about your grandmother. I agree with Mr. Reiff, In addition, you should check out the Minnesota Judicial web site and look up the info regarding probate law. Then make a trip to your local law library.
