Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Minnesota
My grandmother just passed away recently, RIP. She willed over 50% of her estate to myself and the other 1/2 to other close family relatives. She listed a long time family friend as the personal representative, however our family doesn't want this individual to handle our families legal affairs as he has personal motives to benefit and gain from being involved.
Without going into any more of his character flaws" How can we ask him to relinquish his duties and then we can appoint a person more suitable for our family? Is there a legal form that I could buy online or print to send to this individual?

The will merely nominates someone, and it is possible to have a different person appointed. That said, it is probably a good idea to retain an attorney to decide how to proceed. It is more involved than just buying some form online and submitting it.
You could ask him to renounce his right to be appointed personal representative, and there is a form for this. If he will not renounce his right to be appointed, you may have to file objections to his being appointed the executor.
