can a parent will a piece of property like farm land to one sibling and not the other.can it be contested succesfully?

Yes, a parent can give everything to one child and nothing to another. It might be possible to contest the will on the basis of "undue influence" or coercion, or something similar, but it would involve going to court and convincing the judge that there were some really bad facts.
