Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Minnesota

our rights to mothers' house

My Mom died 3 years ago in September, and left no will. She got married on her death bed 9 months before she passed. Now her ex is trying to obtain all of her belongings, including her house, which my family lives in. I was told by his lawyer that we have no rights, so we did nothing. Can we still fight for our house? Can his lawyer tell us we have no rights?

The widower's lawyer does not represent you. I don't mean to avoid your question, but there is too much here to give you a pithy answer. I think you need to retain your own attorney.

MY STANDARD DISCLAIMER: This is not intended to be legal advice or to create an attorney-client relationship. No attorney-client relationship is intended until you and I sign a retainer agreement.
