Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Minnesota

Are all in a will informed?

I am wondering if in the state of Minnesota, if you are named in a decedants will, are you informed that you are named in the will before it is concluded?

My aunt passed away, and someone is contesting the will, but I have never been informed that I was named in the will. Should I conclude that I was not in the will?

Thank you!

Re: Are all in a will informed?

You should go to the counter at the probate court in question and ask to see the will. It is public information. Then you would know.

If they don't want to let you touch the original - afraid you will run away with it or something, order a copy of it. A typical cost for that would be $10.

If the probate court is a long way from where you live, call them and ask them how you can get a copyh of the will. You should be able to order it by mail.
