Legal Question in Construction Law in Mississippi
Labor Lien Law in Mississippi
My husband done some remodeling on a home. He done some flooring, in two bathrooms and built vanity cabinets. He also built a complete set of cabinets in the kitchen. He worked on this mans house for about three weeks. The total cost was around $8,500. This man paid him $5,000.00 and told him that he would give him the rest after the kitchen cabinets were completed. See they had to order some doors for the cabinets and that was all that was left to do. Well they finally got the doors put on . They called the home owner told them to come and inspect the cabinets and they came out look it over and they were completely satisfied. They said they would meet them the next day at noon to give them the $3,500.00 they owed. My husband called the home owner the next day he said he could not meet him it would have to be the next day. So they set an appointment for the next day, no Show again. Now he can not get them to answer any phone calls or anything. Can he file a labor lien on this mans home.

It would be a lot easier to take him to small claims court and sue for this amount. You can file a lien on the property, but this does not in general get you your money.
Go after him.
