Legal Question in Family Law in Mississippi

Age child can stop visitation

Hello,

I am a resident of Mississippi. I was married and divorced in the state. My ex-husband has visitation with my daughter. She will be 15 on 9/18/05. Does she have to wait until 18 to stop visitation, or is their an earlier age in this state where she is not forced to visit.

thank you

Re: Age child can stop visitation

Your job is to make a good faith effort to encourage your daughter to visit her father. If she loses love and affection for him, he does not have to contribute towards her college education expenses. Nobody is going to drag your daughter to her father's house or put her in jail for not visiting him. However, you will be accused of contributing to her resistance if she doesn't go. If there is a problem with the timing, it would be best to allow your daughter a voice in deciding on a changed visitation schedule.
