Legal Question in Family Law in Mississippi

When can child support stop?

The child support order was done in Indiana. I moved to Mississippi and daughter moved to North Carolina. Now I pay through Mississippi and they send to N. Carolina. N.Carolina isnow saying the case is closed and that theyare no longer enforcing thesupport whatever that means. Well I now live in Florida. My daughter now lives in Kentucky. She is a high school drop out and is working a fast food job. If I get a lawyer what state would I go through? Secondly she is 17, but has not attended school in 2 years so do I still have to pay support? If so when will I beable to stop paying it? What state laws would we go by? Thank you!

Re: When can child support stop?

Depending on how it reads, the Indiana order should be vacated.

Re: When can child support stop?

Under Mississippi law, Mississippi lost jurisdiction to terminate or modify the support order 6 months after she left the state. You probably need to terminate it in Kentucky.
