Legal Question in Business Law in Missouri
Internet
When I was ready to put my business online, I found out my business name was already purchased. The individual offered to sell the name. Is that legal? They have not built a site. They just purchased the name to sell. Can I sue them for this name, or for the value it has damaged my business? I know they purchased the name to hurt my ability to have my company online.

Re: Internet
The practice that you are referring to is called "cyber squatting." Unfortunately, this a legal practice in most cases. For example, I would like to obtain a website that is my name.com so that I can use it for my law firm. However, I cyber squatter has already purchased this domain name. Now, my choice is to either purchase the name from the squatter or go with myname.net, etc.
